Richard Armstrong’s career spans five decades and several continents; he is known internationally as voice teacher, performer and director. His work has taken him to over 35 countries and inspired generations of vocal performers and artists.  His annual International Voice Workshops were part of the curriculum at the Banff Centre, Canada for over 30 years.

Richard Armstrong retired as Associate Arts Professor at New York University’s Experimental Theatre Wing at the Tisch School of the Arts in 2019 and, until the 2020 pandemic, was teaching annually for its International Summer School in Amsterdam and for companies and schools around the world.

He works also as a visual artist and writer from his studio in the Hudson Valley, NY, having trained originally as a painter under Richard Hamilton at Newcastle University’s Fine Art Department in the 1960s.
